Could OT, PT, or Speech services be helpful to your child?

Therapy services.

Pediatric Occupational Therapy

Pediatric occupational therapy is a type of therapy that helps children with physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities or delays to perform daily activities and tasks. Pediatric occupational therapists (OTs) work with children of all ages, from infants to adolescents, to help them achieve independence and improve their quality of life.

OTs use a variety of techniques and tools to help children reach their goals, including:

  • Sensory integration therapy: This type of therapy helps children learn how to process sensory information in a way that is helpful and not overwhelming.

  • Play-based therapy: This type of therapy uses play to help children develop skills in areas such as fine motor skills, social skills, and problem-solving.

  • Fine motor skill development: This type of therapy helps children develop the strength and coordination they need to perform tasks such as writing, buttoning buttons, and tying shoes.

  • Adaptive equipment: This equipment can help children with disabilities or delays participate in daily activities.

If you are concerned that your child may have a developmental delay, you should talk to your child's doctor or contact COTC directly for an initial consultation.

Pediatric Physical Therapy

Pediatric physical therapy (PT) is a type of therapy that helps children improve their movement, strength, and coordination. PTs work with children who have a variety of conditions, including cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, and sports injuries. They also work with children who are delayed in their development, such as those who are not walking or talking at the expected age.

PTs use a variety of techniques to help children reach their goals. These techniques may include:

  • Exercises to improve strength, range of motion, and coordination

  • Activities to help children learn new skills, such as walking, talking, or playing sports

  • Education for parents and caregivers on how to help their child at home

If you think your child might benefit from pediatric physical therapy, talk to your doctor or contact COTC directly for an initial consultation.

Pediatric Speech Therapy

Pediatric speech therapy is a type of therapy that helps children with speech, language, and communication disorders. Speech therapists work with children to improve their ability to produce speech sounds, understand and use language, and swallow. They also work with children on social communication skills, such as taking turns in conversation and understanding nonverbal cues.

Some of the most common reasons for seeking pediatric speech therapy include:

  • Articulation disorders, such as mispronouncing certain sounds

  • Language delays, such as difficulty understanding or using language

  • Fluency disorders, such as stuttering

  • Voice disorders, such as hoarseness or a raspy voice

  • Swallowing disorders, such as difficulty chewing or choking

  • Social communication disorders, such as difficulty making friends or understanding nonverbal cues

If you are concerned about your child's speech, language, or communication skills, talk to your doctor or contact COTC directly for an initial consultation.
